OUTSTANDING AGENDA SET FOR 2020

ELECTRI International has announced its research agenda for 2020. Members of the ELECTRI Council recently met in St. Petersburg, Florida, to consider a wide variety of possible topics. The Council voted to commission seven projects to be conducted and completed during 2020.

In confirming the winning projects, Council Chair, Sonja Rheaume (Christenson Electric, Portland, OR) told the Council, “We have an outstanding roster of initiatives for 2020 from a variety of educational institutions and research organizations. Each project will result in recommendations that benefit our contractors. We will work with NECA’s Education Department to ensure that quality educational content is derived from every completed project.”

The research selected includes:

  • Electrical Construction Management Training – video series
    Ben Bigelow, Anthony Perrenoud and Matthew Reyes, University of Oklahoma

 

  • The Future of Line Contracting
    Michael McLin, Maxim Consulting

 

  • Estimating with and Pricing of Prefabrication for Electrical Contractors
    Meik Daneshgari, MCA, Inc.

 

  • Small Business – Dealing with Growth Issues
    Michael McLin, Maxim Consulting

 

  • VR Electricians: Using Immersive Storytelling for Attracting Students to the Electrical Trades Masoud Gheisari, University of Florida

 

  • Industrialization of Construction: Signal or Noise? Threat or Promise?
    Heather Moore, MCA, Inc.

 

  • Robots in Construction – Current Use in Electrical Line Work and Inside Construction and the Outlook for the Future
    Lonny Simonian, California Polytechnic State University
