ELECTRI International selected Jerry Hayes as the recipient of its 2018 Wendt Award, the Foundation’s highest honor. Hayes, President and CEO of United Electric in Atlanta, was chosen for his leadership and service as Chair of the ELECTRI Council and for his countless hours of service to the electrical construction industry, locally and nationally.
The Wendt Award recognizes exemplary leadership and service to the electrical industry. It is named in honor of the philosophical and financial commitments made to the electrical contracting industry by one of its premier members, the late Albert G. Wendt, president of Cannon & Wendt Electric in Phoenix, Arizona.
Hayes founded United Electric in 1986 after working as a project manager for two local electrical contractors. In addition to overseeing overall operations, he represents the company in the Atlanta Electrical Contractors Association, ELECTRI International and Peer Group II. In 2012, Hayes was installed as a Fellow of the Academy of Electrical Contracting. Throughout his 37-year career, he has consistently shown his passion for excellence and working hard to guarantee the future success of the EC industry.
In announcing the 2018 selection, ELECTRI President David Long noted, “By providing an extraordinary example of service and a commitment to the future of the electrical construction industry, Jerry Hayes has proven himself worthy of the 2018 Wendt Award and of his industry’s acknowledgement and gratitude.”
