ELECTRI OFFERS SIGNIFICANT FUNDING TO NECA CHAPTERS

March 3, 2020

ELECTRI International is working closely with NECA’s Education Department to ensure contractors and NECA Chapters have access to the best educational programming. To that end, ELECTRI’s Board of Trustees has made the commitment to increase grants to NECA Chapters through the Foundation’s Al and Margaret Wendt Trust.

For 2020, ELECTRI will award up to $5,000 to each selected NECA Chapter to offer educational programs to their members from the broad array of seminars available through NECA Education.  In explaining this significant increase in funding, ELECTRI Executive Director Joey Shorter noted, “For many years ELECTRI capped the scholarship at $1,000 per grant. We hope the increased amount of Wendt Scholarship resources will encourage many more Chapters with a financial need to provide educational programs that may have been cost prohibitive in the past.”

Any NECA Chapter with limited access to educational trust funds or other adequate training funds may apply for an ELECTRI Wendt Scholarship to help defray the costs of presenting a NECA Education program for their members. Applications for the 2020 Wendt Scholarship must be submitted electronically to Laura Holmes at laura.holmes@electri.org by April 30, 2020.  Applications must be completed in full to be eligible for review by the Wendt Scholarship Review Committee.

By May 15, 2020, ELECTRI will notify each Chapter that qualifies of its Wendt Scholarship amount. The Chapter will have until May 2021 to offer the NECA educational program but must show the program on the Chapter schedule by December 31, 2020.
