ELECTRI International is pleased to honor the State University of New York – Delhi as the 2023 NECA Student Chapter of the Year. Located in Delaware County, NY, this chapter demonstrated outstanding student participation in chapter projects and events. The 19 student members and two advisors took every opportunity to interact with NECA contractors in the area and EC industry partners. One example of the Student Chapter’s initiatives during 2022 included working under the supervision of a licensed electrician to install new LED light fixtures and a new disconnect for the Delhi Courthouse.
Throughout the year, the chapter involved as many people as possible in competitions, clean-up community events, and presentations by local businesses and utilities. Each activity was designed to make students more aware of the electrical construction industry and the opportunities they would have by joining the NECA Student Chapter on campus.
In addition to being evaluated by ELECTRI for its outstanding service record, SUNY – Delhi received a glowing letter of recommendation from Dr. Thomas Jordan, SUNY – Delhi’s Provost and VP for Academic Programs and Services. He highlighted the great industry relationships that resulted from the Student Chapter’s interaction with both the community and the construction industry. He noted the amount of tools and equipment (valued at $1,000+) contributed to SUNY – Delhi by the industry partners who worked with the Student Chapter.
Applications for the 2024 competition for Student Chapter of The Year will be available in spring 2024.
