“When Darlene and I considered how we might best assist ELECTRI International for decades to come, we decided that our personal legacy to the Foundation would be to give it the resources to create educational programs and materials for contractors to learn about financial and estate planning and about the variety of ways we can give to those charitable organizations that are close to our heart.”
To Richard W. McBride (Southern Contracting Company, San Diego), commitment to family and profession are priorities in life. Dick chose two distinguished ways to give back to the electrical construction industry he loves so well.
The Richard and Darlene McBride Legacy Initiative Honoring the San Diego Chapter of NECA is a program designed to educate individuals about the opportunities to include the Foundation in their estate planning.
Dick and Darlene both recognize that their industry needs to acknowledge and accept a more global, more competitive industry environment. US-based contractors need to learn about the culture and business practices of other contractors in other countries with whom they may partner or compete for new business. International NECA Chapters want solid education so that the quality of their work makes them attractive and viable as partners for major projects.
The Foundation’s International Center has been established through a generous charitable trust gift of $1 million from Dick and Darlene McBride. In addition, Robert and Sharon Doran (Capital Electrical Construction Company, Kansas City) generously added a $250,000 grant to support these international initiatives.
