University Senior Selected for Gerald Schulz Scholarship

The Wisconsin Chapter – NECA and ELECTRI International have announced the first recipient of the Gerald W Schulz Scholarship in Construction Engineering and Management. Scott Goelden, a construction management student from Wausau, Wisconsin, is a senior at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He was selected from a field of four finalists drawn from NECA Student Chapters. Goelden received a $5,000 scholarship to be applied directly to his studies at the University. EC companies will be encouraged to offer an industry-related internship to the Schulz Scholarship award winner.

Schulz (Michels Corporation, Brownsville, WI) made a personal pledge of $100,000 to ELECTRI International to support the effort to raise awareness of electrical construction at colleges and universities. Schulz noted, “Our NECA Chapters and ELECTRI International provide students with good exposure to the electrical construction industry. We want these students ready to enter good professional jobs when they finish school. The scholarship opportunity is a way to create a legacy of top-quality, well-educated talent that we will need for many years to come to keep our industry strong."
